Why You Should Always Have Room For More Scrubs

Posted on

Scrubs are the uniform of medical personnel in most hospitals and medical centers across the country because they allow for easy identification, they are comfortable and non-restrictive, and they can be cleaned easily as well. However, it is important that you always have a steady supply of scrubs to wear to work, and you can always add more to your rotation. Here are a few reasons why you should consider getting some extra scrubs even if you think you already have enough and how they can help you out in a bind.

Keep Them In Different Locations

If you live in two different places, such as your own apartment and one that you share with your partner, or are constantly outside while on call, then you might want to consider having a few stashes of scrubs around your most frequented locations. Keeping some scrubs at your most visited places means that you are never worried if you get a call, which can be some medical personnel's worst nightmare when they are caught out by it. If it has happened to you, then you know just how frustrating this can be and most likely want to make sure it never happens again.

Keep Some At The Hospital

Sometimes you will have an exceptionally messy shift, and you might get splattered with all types of different liquids and less than pleasant materials. Of course, you can't be expected to finish out your shift looking like that, and you do not want to have to borrow someone else's scrubs, so keeping a pair in your locker or car for this exact situation is a must. It only takes a few weeks of work to realize that having back-ups is always a good idea when working in a hospital.

Reduce Wear And Tear

By having a lot of scrubs you reduce the chance of individual pairs of scrubs getting damaged and you not noticing. The last thing you want to do is turn up to work with a hole in your scrubs that you missed, or some scrubs that's color is clearly bleached from being overwashed and old. Having many different types of scrubs means that they all age a lot slower and you can pinpoint the worst offenders and get them out of your rotation even quicker. If you want to look neat and tidy, an abundant supply of scrubs is a must.
